Just wondering how the business of Faux Finishing is doing out there for everyone or anyone who cares to comment in your area? My business has definitely been declining over the past 3 years and is now totally dried up, here for me, I have tried a few marketing things, but no great results as of yet. Perhaps you could share what is working for you and what's not. Thanks!

This year has been one of my busiest. 2010 was just mediocre, but I am busier than ever this year. I do think that people are letting go of their money and my business has changed in that I am doing more and more cabinetry refinishing. Since people cannot seel their houses, they are staying put and doing the house the way they want to update. I have networked with different designers this year and also a few house painters. I try not to ever do my own basecoat; my painter does that and I do the finish. It works well and he recommends me as I do him. a win win for both of us. good luck!
Permalink Reply by Mindy Harrell on February 1, 2012 at 2:58pm I agree. We have been very busy. We initially lost many of our Designers, gained some new. I have been expanding my services every year. Concrete, floors, cabinetry, countertops, walls, art, & more. Best thing to do right now is re-evaluate where your jobs come from and how to nurture that? I call it "hitting the streets." No matter if I am dead slow or extremely busy, I am constantly keeping up with my network via, emails, phonecalls, newsletters and such.
Permalink Reply by Karen Patterson on February 13, 2012 at 2:56pm I agree with your assessment of the business in general. No one really has the money for the "extra" pop for their walls. The only increase in business for me is cabinets. Kitchen cabinets that need updating as cheaply as possible.
The Pittura network has been established to elevate the awareness and mastery of the decorative artisans/tradesmen across the nations.
